AUBURN — The Central Maine Community College Corporate and Community Services Department will offer a medical terminology course from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 23 through Dec. 2. The cost of the class is $359 and includes the textbook.
The class will cover the basic knowledge and understanding of medical language and terminology used by health care professionals everywhere. Students will analyze individual word parts such as prefixes, suffixes and word roots, along with learning body system dynamics, basic medical language, body orientation, health, wellness and disease terms. Students will learn the basic components of medical terminology as it relates to each body system.
The course is designed for those who desire a health and science career that requires the ability to communicate with physicians, dentists or other medical professionals.
The course will be taught by Valerie Ferrante, MS, MT (ASCP) and is open to the public.
