BOOTHBAY  — Livermore Falls started Saturday night’s Campbell Conference opener at Sherman Field happy just to be lining up against someone in different colors.

Quickly, though, the Andies figured while they were there, they might as well run over, around and through the blue and gold of the Boothbay Seahawks.

Senior fullback Chandler White led the charge with 164 yards and five touchdowns on 18 carries as the Andies scored on their first six possessions and dusted the Seahawks, 46-26, in a game that wasn’t nearly that close.

“(Tight end) Andre Uter opened up some holes, and (halfback) Alex Rose. Everyone was just hitting their blocks and working together,” White said.

Senior halfback Jeff Ryder added to the big-run barrage with 79 yards and a pair of scores on just four carries for the Andies. Livermore Falls defenders Uter and Mike Armstrong seemed to spend more time in the Boothbay backfield than the Andies’ running backs spent in their own. The big defensive ends (6-foot-5, 210 pounds and 6-foot-4, 200, respectively) led a physical front line that shut out the Seahawks’ double wing through the first three quarters before Boothbay scored four times on the reserves in the fourth quarter.

“Their offensive line really played tight, so all we had to do was pretty much jam their ends and jam that line and we came though pretty good,” Armstrong said.

“I was real worried coming into this because we didn’t (scrimmage) last week. Yarmouth decided not to show up,” Livermore Falls coach Brad Bishop said. “We hadn’t played in two weeks but the kids responded well. They were itching to play.”

The Andies’ eagerness was apparent from the jump, as White recovered a fumble on the game’s first possession. The offense took over at Boothbay’s 44 and scored in five plays when Ryder raced around the right side for a 15-yard touchdown.

Moments later, Armstrong made Boothbay pay for a questionable decision to go for it on 4th-and-3 from their own 37. He stopped Alex Gorey (19 carries, 83 yards) for no gain, setting the Andies up with prime field position again.

The Andies caught a break on their own fourth down attempt when Sam Chabot recovered a Ryder fumble after it rolled past the first down marker. White needed only one play to score though, following a nice Nate Michaud block outside to break a 25-yard touchdown that made it 14-0 with 2:41 to go in the first quarter.

White added TD runs of five, four, 35, and 22 yards before the end of the third quarter. Ryder added a 42-yard scoring run of his own.  The Andies forced four turnovers, including interceptions by Shawn Whiting and Rose.

Two Boothbay players, including starting QB John Weston, had to be taken off the field via ambulance after suffering apparent leg injuries.
