PARIS — The Paris Public Library is celebrating Roald Dahl’s birthday in September with special Monday after-school programs for elementary school children.

Led by children’s librarian Billie Lou Damon, the library invites children to share, as expressive readers, Dahl’s story, “The Enormous Crocodile.” Participants, who may be readers or part of the audience, will read the story as a group on Monday, Sept. 14, and, if they wish, will choose parts to practice for the following week. On Monday, Sept. 21, the group will expressively read the story for the audience.

The programs, from 4 to 5 p.m., are free, and open to all. The story is approximately at a third grade reading level. Readers will be provided their own copies of “The Enormous Crocodile.” Birthday cupcakes will be provided at each session.
