If only people took a little more time out of their busy days to think about others …
Recently, I went to a local drive-through doughnut shop and ordered a small coffee. I got to the window only to be told that I did not owe any money because someone had already paid for me. I gave the cashier a blank look (there were no vehicles in front of me) and she went on to explain that someone had come in earlier that morning, purchased a $50 gift card and told the cashier to use it for whoever came after. I happened to be one of those lucky people.
My coffee may have been only a couple dollars, but what I took from that kind deed was worth much, much more. Not only did it put a smile on my face (which usually doesn’t happen when I am on my way to work) but it reminded me that there are generous and thoughtful people still out there.
To that person, thank you.
