CPR, first aid

OXFORD — Heartsaver CPR and first aid classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 14 and Dec. 19, at the Oxford Public Safety Building, 701 Main St. Participants will receive certification by attending one day only.

The certification is accepted for day care providers, foster parents, Maine Guides, forestry and any other non-healthcare position. 

Healthcare provider recertification classes will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 29, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Monday, Dec. 14.

Veterans’ advocate

SOUTH PARIS — The Veterans’ advocate will not be at the Maine Veterans’
Home on Wednesday, Sept. 16. His next visit to
the home will be from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Worship service

PARIS — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street will resume regular worship service on Sunday, Sept. 13, with Marilyn Hammond as speaker. The 10 a.m. service will be followed by brunch, coffee and fellowship in Good Cheer Hall. Music is under the direction of Forest Perkins. All are welcome and child care is available. 

School fundraisers

OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Community School sixth grade class is holding fundraisers for trips to Boston and Kieve Leadership School.

A bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Oxford Recreation Hall, during the duck race. Donations of baked goods are welcome and can be dropped off at the school on Friday, Sept. 11.

The students are also holding a bottle drive from now until spring. Residents can drop bottles off at the Otisfield Transfer Station during business hours, with their sixth grader or contact Ruth Wilson at the school at 627-4208 for pick-up. Donations may also be left at Don’s Redemption Center in Norway.

The class is also looking for donations of items in good condition for their yard sale, which will be held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20, at the Otisfield Community Hall, Route 121. Donations can be dropped off at the Community Hall from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.
