A U.S. Marine who was the subject of a police search involving more than 10 agencies over the weekend was located safe and sound Sunday morning at a friend’s home.

Peter Richard was reported missing Friday afternoon to the Wilton Police Department after failing to report to a Marine Corps function in Topsham. The 23-year-old man with ties to Wilton, Farmington, Lewiston and North Carolina was last seen driving on Main Street in Wilton at 6:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Richard was found shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday after police received word that he was at a residence in Temple, which is about 12 miles northwest of Wilton and in the opposite direction of Richard’s original plan to travel to Topsham, according to the Wilton Police Department.

Police went on to say that authorities received dozens of tips from callers who provided information in locating Richard. Authorities did not release any information as to why Richard was at the Temple residence and did not say whether he faces any charges.
