FARMINGTON — University of Maine Cooperative Extension Professional Donna Bucher will offer two “Preserving the Harvest” workshops at the Extension office, 138 Pleasant St., Suite 1. The workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 25 and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5.
There is a materials fee of $10 each person. Participants will receive a “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation packet. Participants will learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, equipment to insure safety and how to check for properly sealed jars. Participants need to bring a potholder with them to the workshop.
Space is limited for the workshops. Call 778-4650 or 1-800-287-1478 in advance to register and reserve a place. The materials fee is payable by check, payable to “FCEA” putting “Preserving the Harvest” and the date and session time in the memo section. If special accommodations are needed to attend, contact the office seven days prior to the event.
