The Lewiston Police Department responded to 681 calls for service between 7 a.m. Sept. 11 and 7 a.m. Sept. 18. Of those calls, 150 of them were motor vehicle stops.

The playground equipment at Farwell School was tagged with graffiti from a black marker sometime before 7:30 a.m. Sept. 13.

A vehicle parked in front of building 13 at Hillview Apartments had a tire slashed Sept. 13 at 10:15 p.m. The suspects were several young, black males.

A vehicle parked at 86 Walnut St. had silver paint dumped on it and graffiti written on the windows.

A window of the New Beginnings Outreach at 245 Lisbon St. was broken between 5 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 14.

Theft

A blue mountain bike and pocketbook were stolen from 17 Horton St. on Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. The suspect was a white male in his 20s wearing a dark sweatshirt.

A pink-and-black Huffy was stolen from 106 Holland St. overnight Sept. 15-16.

A black male and a white female entered the Big Apple at 248 Main St. on Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. and pretended to fill out a job application while stealing a fundraising jar from the front counter.

A maroon Mongoose mountain bike was stolen from 13 Campus Ave. prior to 2 p.m. Sept. 12.

A vehicle parked at Grimmel’s at 679 Lisbon St. for repairs had its license plates stolen prior to 5 p.m. Sept. 14.

Large quantities of copper wire were stolen from 58 Westminster St. over the course of the previous week. The wire was inside a fence, which had been cut enough to allow someone to cut the wire into small sections and ferry it outside to a
waiting vehicle. The wire was of a very heavy gauge that had been contained on large reels but had been segmented by a mechanical or hydraulic sheer.

A bicycle that had been locked up at the Southern Gateway Garage at 425 Lisbon St. had its tire stolen prior to 3 p.m. on Sept. 17.

Burglary

A vacant residence at 194 Rosedale St. was burglarized before Sept. 16. Entry was gained through a basement window; all the copper pipe was cut out of the home.

An apartment at 21 Howe St. was burglarized between 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 16. Entry was gained by breaking through an entry door. Prescription medications were taken.

An apartment at 114 Pierce St. was burglarized sometime between Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. and Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. An Xbox and earphones were taken.

A shed at 150 Sabattus St. was burglarized sometime between Sept. 15 and Sept. 17. A Ryobi table saw and radial arm saw were taken.

Motor vehicle burglaries

A vehicle parked at 1 Oak St. was burglarized between June 1 and Sept. 11. A mini fridge was taken.

A vehicle parked at the Colisee at 190 Birch St. was burglarized before 3:30 p.m. Sept. 4. A Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS was taken.

A vehicle parked in the Centerville garage had its window smashed by a brick and had a Garmin Nuvi GPS taken from inside sometime during the day on Sept. 15.

Aggravated assault

Taironce Nelson, 29, was charged with aggravated assault on Sept. 14 at 11:54 a.m. in Kennedy Park after a male subject was stabbed with a small knife, causing a minor injury. The incident followed a verbal and physical altercation.

Officers responded to 64 Oxford St. No. N1D, on Sept. 10 at 8:15 p.m. for a report of a home invasion. The resident reported that five teenagers entered his apartment, struck him over the head with a black gun and stole his Xbox 360 and Fallout 3 game. The suspects were one black male about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a medium build, chubby cheeks and a black bandanna; and a black male about 6 feet tall, thin, wearing a heavy winter coat; the other three suspects weren’t seen. All suspects were in their mid to late teens.

Operating under the influence arrests

Nathan Davis, 30, was charged with operating under the influence on Sept. 16 at 4:40 a.m. at Park and Spruce streets following a routine traffic stop.
