AUBURN – The Auburn Recreation Grade 7-8 varsity football team opened its season with an offensive explosion, downing Oxford Hills, 36-14.

Corey Henderson took the opening kick off 65 yards for a touchdown and scored another TD on a 55-yard pass from Jamison Rodrigues. John Boyd also had two touchdowns for Auburn.

Zach Bartsche and and Ian Milekis each had interceptions, while Brian Crane and Caleb Fecteau shut down the Oxford Hills rushing attack.

In the JV tilt, AYS defeated Auburn, 8-0, scoring the winning touchdown with 1.4 seconds left. Ian Milekis and Ethan Nadeau led the way for Auburn.

Auburn White knocked off the Poland Knights, 22-6, in a Grade 5-6 clash. C.J. Jipson scored two touchdowns, while backfield mate Drew Lashua added a touchdown and a pair of two-point conversions. Isaac Lapointe, Ridge Servidio and Jack Coyne were tough on defense for Auburn. Zachary Couillard caused a key Poland fumble with a sack.

Auburn Red lost a tough defensive battle to Monmouth, 7-0. Reed Parker had the lone TD for Monmouth. Ben Harris, Dillon Hummes and Gage Dalphonse led the Auburn defense.

In Grade 3-4 action, Auburn Yellow lost to Monmouth, 24-14. Monmouth returned two kickoffs for touchdowns to get the win. Alic Shorey ran for a touchdown and passed for two points, while Kyle Herald also had a touchdown for Auburn Yellow.

Auburn Blue broke into the win column with an exciting 14-12 win over the Mt. Blue Lynx. Max Bell and Alex Merchant each scored for Auburn Blue and dominated the ground game. Caleb Yarnevich and Justin Therriault were defensive standouts for Auburn.
