TURNER — Registration is open for fall classes offered by MSAD 52 Adult and Community Education.
Beginning Knitting starts Wednesday, Sept. 23, and will focus on
working on the round to create a simple hat. Participants will choose
from several simple designs utilizing a number of different stitches.
Weight loss and Hypnosis begins Thursday, Sept. 24. Those attending
will learn to listen to the body’s true needs, to eat when hungry, to
stop when satisfied and to choose healthy alternatives, all reinforced
through hypnotic suggestions.
A three-week canning course will start Saturday, Sept. 26, and is
designed to provide information for home canning of several foods such
as fruits, jams, juices, sauces, meats and vegetables.
Dream Weaving will begin Tuesday, Oct. 6. Participants will create
an 8- by 12-inch wall hanging and learn how to set up an easy loom
using driftwood for the top and bottom.
Two Basic Weatherization classes will be offered Tuesdays, Oct. 6 and
13. Basic weatherizing techniques will be examined and materials will
be explained. A review of tips to keep warm during the winter will be
discussed.
Welding class, starting Thursday, Oct. 8, will teach participants to
run stringer beads in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead welding.
The beginner and experienced welding course will help people working on
their State certification. It can also be taken as a credit course or
to jump start a career in welding.
A Family for ME is a one-night workshop to be held Wednesday, Oct.
14, and will cover the process, benefits, the children and requirements
of foster care and adoption in Maine. Children of all ages need
respite, emergency, long term and maybe even other family members to be
licensed foster parents and/or adoptive families. Materials will be
provided. Questions and discussions are welcome.
A career development mini-seminar, “The Shape You’re In: Strategies
and Effective Leadership and Communication,” will take place Wednesday,
Oct. 14 and Tuesday, Oct. 20. It is ideal for real estate
professionals, business personnel, educators, managers, people in sales
and government and parents.
Also on Oct. 14 and 20, there will be a seminar called “Opportunity:
Successfully Riding the Wave of Change.” The information is simple,
practical and applicable to anyone experiencing the challenges of
change or transition.
