The Maine Amateur Hockey Association (MEAHA) hosted the State Championship Mini One-on-One competition at the Kennebec Ice Arena in Augusta. A total of 22 talented teams faced off in a shootout style competition. After 44 mini one-on-one games, the championship team was made up of two local boys. Jarod Lavalle of Sabattus, left, served as the "sniper-like" shooter, and Ridge Servidio of Lewiston proved to be solid in net as goalie. The boys played against some tough competition and were very pleased to be named the state champions for the 1999/1998 birth year division. The boys will now represent Maine at the New England Championship, which will be held at TD Banknorth Garden on Oct. 4. The competition will be televised in between periods of a Boston Bruins Game. Servidio and Lavalle play for the Maine Renegades, an elite travel hockey program based out of Gorham. For more information on the Maine Renegades, go to www.mainerenegades.com.
