LEWISTON – Matt Beauparlant posted the eventual game-winning goal as Lewiston took a comfortable 3-0 victory over Oxford Hills in KVAC boys’ soccer action Friday evening.
Beauparlant received a nicely played ball from Subeer Osman, and delivered it into the right side of the cage about three-quarters of the way up and out of the goalie’s reach to put the Blue Devils (4-1-2) on the board first.
J.J. Musse and Jon McDonough contributed a goal each for Lewiston in the winning effort.
Goalie Matt McVety made 12 saves for the Vikings, while Chris Jacques and Scott Ouellette combined for nine saves for Lewiston.
Rockland 1, Oak Hill 0
ROCKLAND – Aaron Dennison scored the lone goal of the game as Rockland sank Oak Hill 1-0 in KVAC boys’ soccer action Friday.
The Tigers (2-5-1) were able to take advantage of a windy home-field advantage. Luke Morrill found an opening midway through the first half and moved the ball downfield to Dennison, who converted the ball past goalie Cody Plourde.
The Raiders (6-2) executed 26 quality shots, but Rockland goalie Gentry Burch had an exceptional game by not allowing a single ball to pass beyond his line of demarcation.
Dirigo 1, Mt. Abram 0
SALEM – Tyler Gates converted a penalty kick at 8:39 of the second half to lift Dirigo to a 1-0 victory over Mt. Abram.
The Cougars (7-0) and Roadrunners (5-2) were engaged in a midfield battle for much of the contest. Neither team spent much time in either opponent’s territory.
Goalie Josh Beedy made four saves for Mt. Abram, while Caleb Turner turned back seven to earn the win in net for Dirigo.
