ORONO — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center and the Maine Department of Labor are teaming up to provide free Dislocated Workers Pathway to College workshops at all CareerCenters in the state.
The workshops will cover the new president’s training initiative, which allows dislocated workers to continue receiving unemployment benefits while in approved training programs. This workshop will provide information on educational opportunities, including college admission steps and paperwork, financial aid basics, and resources that are available for assistance.
Services provided will include: the basics of college planning, college admission steps and paperwork, and financial aid basics including the Free Application For Student Aid. The workshop lasts approximately 90 minutes. Participants should bring their 2008 1040 tax paperwork, the Maine
Department of Labor President’s Training Initiative letter and their unemployment insurance eligibility notice.

All workshops begin at 10 a.m. and are offered at the following sites: South Paris CareerCenter, Oct. 5; Lewiston CareerCenter, Oct. 7; Wilton CareerCenter, Oct. 22; and the Rumford CareerCenter, Nov. 23.
