MONMOUTH — Morgan Bergeron scored a hat trick with three goals to send Monmouth to a 5-0 boys’ soccer victory over winless Jay in MVC action Monday.

Bergeron scored twice in the first half to give Monmouth (2-4-1) the early advantage. Corey Dyke added a goal and an assist, while Russell Neal also scored. Eric Coulombe, Tim Whitmore and Allen Thomas were credited with assists.

The Mustangs held a commanding 33-6 advantage in shots. Robbie Neal stopped all six shots for Monmouth, while Issac Couture made 27 saves for Jay (0-8).

Georges Valley 1, Mt. Abram 0

THOMASTON — Chris Wilgas scored off a direct kick with one second
remaining in the first overtime to hand Mt. Abram a heartbreaking 1-0
loss to Georges Valley in an MVC boys’ soccer game Monday.

Wilgas lofted the ball over the wall and tucked it under the
crossbar, just beyond the reach of Mt. Abram goalie Josh Beedy, who had
a strong game in goal with 10 saves.

Georges Valley (6-1-1) enjoyed an 11-6 advantage in shots. Alec Young made six saves for the shutout.
