Lodge meeting

CANTON — Whitney Lodge 167 A.F. and A.M. will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, with their annual inspection
in the EA degree. The meeting will be preceded by a casserole supper
at 6:30 p.m. All Master Masons are welcome. 

Book sale

NEW SHARON — The Jim Ditzler Memorial Library will hold
its fall book sale from 9 a.m. to
1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Paperback books will be $.25 each or $3 for a bag. Hardcover
books will be $.50 each or $6 for a bag. Magazines are 12 for a $1.
Proceeds will be used for library programs. 

Gospel group

FARMINGTON — Journey Home will present a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Trinity
United Methodist Church . Journey Home is a family gospel group and
resides in Wilton. Southern gospel music is their main style.

Story hour

NEW SHARON — The Jim Ditzler Memorial
Library will hold a story hour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Oct. 8 and 22. There will be stories, crafts and snacks.

Takeout meals 

NEW SHARON — A family baked bean takeout meal will be available
from 9:30 to 11: 30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the New Sharon
Congregational United Church of Christ, Cape Cod Hill Road. The
meal includes a quart of baked beans, a pint of coleslaw, yeast rolls
or brown bread and a family-size homemade pie for $15. To reserve a
meal, call Mary at 778-2366. 

Woodland owners

KINGFIELD — The Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners of Maine will host a free workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, for interested woodland owners.

The workshop will include a talk on cost share incentives for landowners. Paul Hersey, district conservationist for the Franklin County Natural Resource Conservation Service, and Patty Cormier, district forester with the Maine Forest Service, will discuss with attendees what is available, how to get signed up, who to go to for assistance and what programs cover.

Bean supper

JAY — The North Jay Grange 10 will have a public supper from 4 to 6
p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. There will be baked beans, casseroles, salads,
fruit salads, cole slaw, rolls, biscuits, beverage and dessert. The
cost for adults is $7, children 10 and under $3. For more information,
