AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at the Methodist Church, Park Avenue. Andrew Harris, L/A Arts director, will describe the new Black Box theater venue.

Harris, who trained as an actor and educator, has directed L/A Arts for the past five years. During that time he has established many new initiatives including arts in education programs, visual arts opportunities for local artists, community arts outreach classes and workshops and arts management in partnership with other arts groups in the Lewiston-Auburn region.

This year, he received the Community Service Leadership Award from Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce and was appointed to the board of the Maine Arts Commission.

Eleanor Truitt is the chairwoman of the program committee for the Art Club meeting. Other members who will host the meeting are Jane Emerson Linnell, Jean Ness and Melanie Ness. They will provide tea and refreshments for the members following the presentation. Judith Johnson is president of the Auburn Art Club for the 2009-10 year.
