LEWISTON — David Footer, an accomplished nature artist, will give an artist talk at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at L/A Arts’ Gallery 5.

Well-known for his stunning and realistic fish paintings, Footer has been involved with wildlife for more than 67 years. His work has been featured in Maine Fish and Wildlife, Canada’s Eastern Woods and Waters and The Art of Angling.

He has gained much recognition not only for his artwork but for supporting many programs that promote nature conservation.
Footer is one of the featured artists in the current “RiverWays” exhibition at Gallery 5, a joint venture of L/A Arts and the Androscoggin Land Trust.

His talk will run for about an hour and is free of charge.

Gallery hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, plus daytime hours on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit will be up through Oct. 14, after which unsold artwork will go to auction at a fundraising gala on Friday, Oct. 16, at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch.
