Make baby food
LEWISTON — St. Mary’s Nutrition Center of Maine will offer a class
about making baby food from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the
Center of Maine, 208 Bates St.
During the class, attendees will learn the benefits of making their
own baby food, which is healthier and less expensive than many
store-bought brands. Participants will use organic vegetables grown by
Lots to Gardens to make baby food to take home.
Babysitting will be provided free of charge. The Nutrition Center is
asking for donations of $5 to $10, but no one will be turned away due

Travelers meeting
LEWISTON — Twin City Council 160 of the United Commercial Travelers of
America will hold a dinner meeting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Marco’s Restaurant. Reservations must be made in advance by calling
Senior Counselor Robert Hutchinson at 783-0451. All members and guests
are welcome.
DAR meeting
BOWDOIN — Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday Oct. 10, at the home of Corley Anne Byras. A program on the “ABCs of the Revolutionary War” will be presented
after the business meeting. Following the program, the members and
guests will be invited to participate in the annual silent auction to
benefit the Burnt Meadow Chapter.
Art club
AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the Woman’s Literary Union clubhouse. Local artist, Catherine Sabine, will speak about her love of art, her professional life and her love of marathon running. Several of her paintings will be on display. Hostesses will be Claire Roger-Anctil, Mary Godin, Mary Bell and Betty Crowley. The public is invited to attend.
Sacrament
AUBURN — The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, followed by
Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, will be given at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 11, at Sacred Heart Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary
Parish, corner of Minot and Western avenues. Anointing of the Sick is
the sacrament which offers spiritual peace and rest and brings healing
to the body and soul.
All parishioners of Auburn, Lewiston, Mechanic Falls, Norway and
surrounding areas, as well as their family and friends, are encouraged
to participate. Light refreshments will be served in the church hall
following the sacrament. The church and parish hall are handicapped
accessible.
Bridge play
LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Oct. 5 were as follows: first, Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry; second, Pete Cummings and Richard Balian; third, Nancy Farmer and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Lindy Wigton and Ron Reynolds; fifth/sixth tie, Paul Sherman and Les Buzzell with Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.
