Healthy eating

OXFORD — The MaineHealth Learning Resource Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer an “Eating Healthy on a Budget” program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Oxford Hannaford Store.

Hannaford’s registered dietitian Dona Forke will teach participants how to eat deliciously and nutritiously within a budget. Recipes, samples and menu planning tips will be offered.

Trinity Lutheran

SOUTH PARIS — All are welcome to praise the Lord with songs of faith on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34
Buckfield Rd. Youth choir rehearsal and “Making the Old Story our
Story” for adults starts at 9 a.m. Worship service starts at 10:15
a.m. followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship. The
Healthy Living Group meets at 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

AARP

SOUTH PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, Oct. 12, at the
First Congregational Church, East  Main Street. A lunch of
macaroni and cheese with ham, with a honey walnut pie for
dessert will be served at noon. The cost is $6.50 and reservations
are required by noon Friday, Oct. 9. Call Ruth at 744-9069

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the speaker, Chris Davis from Healthy Oxford Hills.

Heywood Club

NORWAY — The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct
12, at the clubhouse. There will be a business meeting, led by
Barbara Howard, followed by a speaker. 

Annual picnic

OTISFIELD — The
East Otisfield Free Baptist Church held its annual picnic for a number of
nursing home and residential center residents on Sept. 16, at the
Otisfield Community Center. Attendees were treated to baked beans, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, ice cream,
cookies, punch and coffee. Amy Andrews was in charge of arrangements
while members of the church served as wait people. Entertainment was
provided by Betty and Norman DeCoteau and Art Rogers. The grill master was Jean Jalbert.

The picnic is held each September and is only one of the
church’s efforts to reach out to the area residents. The church holds services at 10 a.m. Sundays. Everyone
is welcome.
