Lewiston’s first 50-star flag will be raised this morning.
The flag raising will take place at Martel School about 10 a.m. Members of the Martel School PTA, including Mrs. John Aliberti, president, and Phil J. Roy, vice president, members of the Board of Education, Supt. J. Weldon Russell and Principal Denis A. Davis will be present.
Both the PTA officers and the Board of Education are aware that flying the 50-star flag will not be officially correct until next Fourth of July.
“We can’t see any harm in flying the new 50-star flag but if anyone seriously objects we will take it down.” said Roy.
