BETHEL — Dylan Mawhinney made a 25-yard charge through two defenders and fired a shot into the net with 30:32 left in regulation to lift Mountain Valley to a 1-0 victory over Telstar in MVC boys’ soccer action Thursday.

Kyle Gauvin needed only three saves to preserve the shutout. Dan Vaughn was solid in net for the Rebels (4-6-1), turning aside 15 shots in the contest.

Mountain Valley outshot Telstar, 16-3.

Greely 3, Gray-New Gloucester 1

GRAY — Fransisco Marques led a trio of players to record goals Thursday as Greely rolled past Gray-New Glouster 3-1 in WMC boys’ soccer matchup.

Matti Ingraham and Jonathan Coyne also tallied for the Rangers (9-2) to complete the scoring. Greely jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first frame and was never challenged. Patrick Blum needed only one save to notch the shutout.

Craig Moreau scored the Patriots’ (6-5-1) lone goal, while evan Kenney turned back five shots between the posts.

Dirigo 5, Jay 1

DIXFIELD – Eric Bolduc had a foot in four of undefeated Dirigo’s goals Thursday, posting two goals and two assists in a 5-1 MVC boys’ soccer victory over Jay.

Dylan Castonguay, Dakota Turnbull and Caleb Turner each added a goal for the Cougars (11-0-1).

The Cougars kept the pressure on all game long, outshooting the Tigers, 25-5.

Caleb Turner shared goaltending dutied with Michael Chow. The pair surrendered only a goal to Brandon Shink. Cliff Turner logged an assist to fuel Dirigo.

Girls’ soccer

Waynflete 3, Poland 0

POLAND — Morgan Woodhouse scored a goal and earned an assist as Waynflete (10-1) shut out Poland, 3-0, in a girls’ soccer game Thursday.

Waynflete took a 1-0 lead in the first half and topped it off with two goals in the second half.

Becky Smith scored an unassisted goal and Sasha Timpson followed with her goal on a Woodhouse assist. Poland (4-5-1) was outshot, 12-6.

 Lisbon 3, Boothbay 2

BOOTHBAY — Kayla Angelico scored with five minutes left to send Lisbon to a 3-2 win over Boothbay in MVC girls’ soccer action Thursday.

Despite being outshot, 35-6, Boothbay still stayed even with Lisbon thanks to goals by Alka Smith and Kristin Sibley. Brooke Lawrence and Kara Cassella each scored for Lisbon.

Kyrstin Ramich made three saves in goal for the Greyhounds (10-2), while McKayla McFetridge stopped 26 shots for theSeahawks (0-10-2).

Dirigo 3, Carrabec 1

NORTH ANSON — Natalie Bolduc netted a pair of first-half goals to propel Dirigo to a 3-1 win over Carrabec in a MVC girls’ soccer tilt Thursday.

Emily Chase also tallied a first-half goal for the Cougars (6-6) to complete the scoring. Natasha Deroche made an impressive 20 saves to notch the win.

Melissa White scored the Cobras’ lone goal on a penalty kick, while Marisa Murray and Sarah Larlee each made eight saves for Carrabec.   

Winslow 7, Mt. View 0

WINSLOW — Allyah Veilleux recoreded a hat trick Thursday to propel Winslow to a 7-0 rout over Mt. View in late-season KVAC girls’ soccer action.

Lindsey Vigue, Jordan Mallett, Kim Curtis and Jessica Gordon also tallied for the undefeated Black Raiders (13-0)to complete the scoring. Gordon and Elizabeth Ferry split time in net, yet neither was called on to make a save.

Field hockey

Lewiston 1, Oxford Hills 1

PARIS — After playing through double overtime, Lewiston and Oxford Hills were forced to settle for a 1-1 tie in a field hockey game Thursday.

The Vikings (5-4-2) struck first when Hannah Warren scored on an Ashley West feed. The Blue Devils struck back when Saba Naji took a Carli Denis feed and scored to tie the game.

Oxford Hills goalie Mariah Kimball made nine saves and Lewiston netminder Emily Craig made 20 saves.

Oxford Hills outshot Lewiston, 22-11.

Jay 6, St. Dom’s 0

JAY — Cassie Beliveau and Shayna Meserve each netted a pair of goals to lead Jay to a 6-0 victory over St. Dom’s in KVAC field hockey action Thursday.

Kelsea Beisaw and Brittany DiPompo also tallied for the Tigers (10-4) to complete the scoring. DiPompo also had two assists.

Ashlee Quirrion didn’t need a single save to record the shutout. Jenna Fongemie was solid in net for the Saints (1-12-1), turning aside 10 shots on the day. 

Jay’s defense held St. Dom’s without a shot on goal and held a huge 14-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Leavitt 1, Maranacook 0

TURNER — Casey Fichter took a nice cross from Amanda Jordan and fired it into the net with 11:12 left in regulation to lift Leavitt to a 1-0 victory over Maranacook in another KVAC field hockey tilt Thursday afternoon.

Megan Dood made four saves in net for the Hornets (8-5-1) to notch the shutout.

Taylor Eells turned back eight shots between the posts for Maranacook (9-3-1).
