AUBURN — Police in Auburn continued efforts Sunday to track down a man who robbed the pharmacy at Shaw’s Supermarket on Center Street Saturday evening.

According to a press release posted on the Auburn Police Department’s Facebook page, an unidentified white male walked into Shaw’s around 4:40 p.m. Saturday and slid a note to the pharmacist that stated he was armed and demanding painkillers. The pharmacist complied with the man’s demands and supplied him with an undisclosed amount of oxycodone.

The man then fled the store and police have been looking for him since. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 4 inches tall, stocky build, with brown hair and a thin beard. During the robbery, he was wearing a black baseball cap with an emblem on the lower left front, a gray sweater or fleece with a zipper at the neck, faded blue jeans and white shoes.

A similar incident occurred later that evening at the Hannaford in Sanford. There, the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of oxycontin. The press release did not indicate if there was any connection between the two cases.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Jason Moore of the Auburn Police Department at 333-6651 ext. 2067, or email him at jmoore@auburnmaine.gov.
