WINTHROP — Karen Rice scored two goals in an eight-minute span of the second half and Alison Sekerak added another Monday afternoon, boosting Winthrop to a 3-1 Mountain Valley Conference girls’ soccer victory over Boothbay.

The Seahawks (0-11-2) enjoyed the halftime lead after Eden McDaniel scored with 11:32 remaining. But Rice evened the game for the Ramblers (6-6-1) in the eighth minute of the second half. She later notched the game-winner on an assist from Grace Burnett.

Erin Belanger assisted Sekerak’s strike. Michelle Lough made six saves for Winthrop.

Jay/LF 4, Carrabec 2

JAY — Jay/Livermore Falls jumped out to a 3-0 lead by halftime and coasted to a 4-2 triumph over Carrabec in an MVC girls’ soccer game Monday.

Kati Beaulieu led the onslaught with two goals. Lexi Deering added a goal and three assists and Allanah White chipped in with a goal and an assist. Randi Kaplan and Becca Bergeron scored for Carrabec (2-11).

Beth Moore, who played most of the game in goal, stopped all 11 shots she faced in her first game as goalie for the Wildcats (7-3-2). Sarah Larlee made eight saves for Carrabec.
