Chris Fennell, an artist from Birmingham, Ala., dons his welding mask as he prepares to fuse together more than 1,000 used lawnmower blades to create a sculpture in front of Bjorn Plaza on the campus of the University of Maine Farmington. He started the piece, named “Lawn Mower Leaves,” last month and hopes to complete it this month.
