AUBURN – Mt. Blue defeated the Auburn Recreation eighth-grade football team in a battle of unbeatens, 22-8.

Mt. Blue opened the scoring on a 23-yard run by Kindall Bosall. Andrew Pratt scored a rushing touchdown and threw a touchdown pass to Dustin Richards. Henry Nguyen scored for Auburn on a 51-yard touchdown run.

In the seventh-grade game, Mt. Blue cruised, 36-12. Dustin Burnham scored two TDs for Mt. Blue, while Anthony Franchetti, J.J. Williams and Bradley Durcell also added scores for the winning team. Brad Durcell and Cody Vining led the tough Mt. Blue defense. For Auburn Rec, Ian Mileikis hit Tyler County for a TD pass, and Zach Bartshe scored on a fumble recovery. Cam Nadeau led the defense.

Auburn Blue defeated Auburn Yellow, 36-6, in Grade 3-4 action. Auburn Blue got TDs from Alex Merchant and Max Bell. Josh Hamel, Caleb Yarnevich, Cole Fecteau and Justin Theriault were contributors to the Auburn Blue effort on both sides of the ball. Tim Torres scored a long touchdown run for Auburn Yellow off a fumble recovery. Kyle Herald, Devaunte Rembert and Alic Shorey led the Auburn Yellow defense.

Auburn White defeated Auburn Red, 22-0, in the Grade 5-6 game. Noah Yarnevich scored a rushing TD to open the scoring, and Jack Coyne kicked the first of his two extra points. Auburn added a score on Isaac Lapointe’s 63-yard fumble recovery and C.J. Jipson’s 32 yard touchdown run. Drew Lashua led Auburn White in rushing and tackles and Mason Brushwein had an interception. For Auburn Red, Matt Verrill completed serveral passes and Gage Dalphonse had a strong rushing game. Cole Butler led the Auburn Red defense with a lot of support from Ben Harris.

In other Grade 7-8 action from the Western Maine Football League, Gardiner topped Oxford Hills, 8-6, and Lewiston downed Mountain Valley, 28-16.
