LEWISTON — Friday, Oct. 16, Portland bluegrass band The Mutineers will perform at She Doesn’t Like Guthries.
The acoustic music trio released its second CD, “Coal Creek,” featuring traditional and original string band music with touches of the blues and folk, in 2008.
Founder and lead vocalist Stuart MacDonald has a knack for taking the basic idea of an old tune and transfusing it through new lyrics and fresh arrangement. Other band members are Jeff Trippe, who handles most of the lead work on guitar, mandolin, banjo and fiddle; and Rod Pervier on upright bass.
Saturday, Oct. 17, Lewiston folk trio Old Man Forest will perform at the restaurant/cafe at 115 Middle St.
Both shows start at 9 p.m.; there is no cover. For more information, call 376-3344 or visit myspace.com/guthriesplace.
