WILTON — A group of community members is creating The Wilton Group, a group that will bring together all types of people, businesses and organizations in Wilton to work together to stimulate more interest in community-based involvement, support local business owners, attract new businesses and project a positive image of their town and region.
Much of the organizational steps have been completed and an outline for a strategic plan has been formed. Now the initial group is reaching out to the rest of community to share what they’ve done and to gather more ideas, information and support that will benefit the whole community. This includes all of the municipality of Wilton (East Wilton, East Dixfield, Dryden, etc.), and is not limited to a “downtown group” or a “business group.”
“We all want to see Wilton become all it can be. It will take people and commitment for that to happen,” said Sue Atwood, one of the founding members. “We can all benefit from working together to create a more vibrant community.”
The Wilton Group invites all interested parties to attend an informational community breakfast at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the First Congregational Church, Main Street. For more information, call Atwood at 645-3721.
