LEWISTON — A surprise 50th wedding anniversary party for Barbara and Gerald Fournier was given on Sept. 12 at the Chick-a-Dee Restaurant in Lewiston.

The room was elegantly decorated by the children of the couple, with gold accented candy dishes filled with gold wrapped chocolates. Long-stemmed roses in gold-laced vases were centerpieces on top of the white linen table cloths, which made for a romantic atmosphere.

The celebration went further to Holy Cross Catholic Church, where 30 members of the family and friends attended Mass with the couple. A reception followed at the home of a family member, where a three-tier gold trimmed cake was served. A special gift was presented, folded heart shaped money strung on a gold-painted money tree, from all the children.

The couple was married on Sept. 12, 1959, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lewiston. They have six children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
