LEWISTON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Ramada Inn. A social half hour will be followed by lunch at noon. After the speaker, there will be a short business meeting and a report from the Legislative Committee members on recent news, information and updates regarding NARFE concerns federal and statewide.

Guest speaker will be Amy V. Miller from Anthem-Blue Cross/Blue Shield, South Portland, who has been with the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association for nearly seven years, six years in Central New York. She was a customer service representative for three years and a certified professional coder with Medical Review for another three years.

Since Sept. 2008, Miller has been with the Anthem Federal Employee Program as a customer service representative and taken additional roles of claims processor and mentor for new hires.

Miller will discuss changes in coverage this year and assist with questions regarding open season for the federal health insurance program.

Those attending are asked to bring nonperishable food items for the St. Martin de Porres Residence for Thanksgiving.

Plans for the meeting were made at a recent board meeting at the home of Vi Dumais. Attending were Richard S. Amand, Doris Hamel, Roland Metayer and Claire Breton.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 17. There will be a program on Lewiston-Auburn history with photos of the cities taken in the middle to late 1800s. Speakers will be David Gudas and Ronald DeBlois.

New members are welcome. The association is for active and retired employees, spouses, surviving spouses and former spouses who are legally eligible for a federal or survivor annuity. For more information, log on to www.NARFE.org.
