LEWISTON — The SeniorsPlus Education Center, 8 Falcon Road, will offer the following classes in November:

Gentle Yoga: Class will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 6, 13, 20 and Dec. 4. Nationally certified yoga instructor Heidi L. Audet will guide the
class through a flowing style of yoga that combines deep breathing with
a set of sequences of moves to calm and strengthen.
Cost is $32 for the series or $10 drop in fee for each class.

Matter of Balance: The class will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 2 to 25. It is a researched-based program of exercise and education that improves
flexibility, balance, and muscle strength and reduces the chance of
falling. Cost is $18 for the series.

AARP Safe Driving Course: The course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. The refresher driving safety course for those 50 and older will qualify participants for an insurance discount.
Cost is $14; checks should be made payable to the AARP.

Savvy Caregiving Training: The training classes will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays, Nov. 5 to Dec. 17, no class on Nov. 26.
The series by the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, assists caregivers by providing knowledge, skills and attitude essential for successful caregiving. To register, call Cindy Beck, Alzheimer’s Association, at 1-800-272-3900.

Medicare Basics – Part D: The session will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10. Roland Bussiere will explain Part D and how to choose the best plan. Open enrollment for Medicare D plans begins Nov. 15.

Meeting the Challenges of Dementia – Tips and Techniques for Family Caregivers: The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 16. Behavioral symptoms are among the most difficult aspects of Alzheimer’s disease for caregivers. The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, will answer questions at the workshop.

Excel One-on-One Training will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., starting Thursday, Nov. 5. Linwood Flick, from SeniorsPlus, will work privately with anyone interested in learning Microsoft’s Excel program for making budgets and setting up graphs.

The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the second Monday of each month. No preregistration is required for the support group.
