ROXBURY — The Western Maine affiliate of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, Med-Care Ambulance, with primary support of New Page Corporation will deploy an automated external defibrillator to the Roxbury ATV Club. The presentation of the automated external defibrillator will take place on Monday, Nov. 16.

Sudden cardiac arrest is the nation’s leading cause of death, resulting in more than 300,000 fatalities each year – exceeding the death rate of lung cancer, breast cancer and HIV/AIDS combined. Only about five percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive.

Med-Care Ambulance will also offer the Roxbury ATV Club and the community a free CPR and automated external defibrillator awareness class from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Roxbury Town Office. All are encouraged to attend. To register, call 364-8748 and ask for Laurieann.
