Between 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, Lewiston police responded to 137 calls for service. Of those calls, 137 were motor vehicle stops.

Criminal mischief
A vehicle parked at 27 Bartlett St. had a window broken between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Nov. 4.
A residence at 481 Main St. was tagged with graffiti prior to 1 a.m. on Oct. 30.
A mailbox at 536 Lincoln St. was smashed by a male in his 20s at 9:54 p.m. on Oct. 31.
A vehicle parked at Lewiston High School at 156 East Ave. was damaged prior to 9 p.m. on Nov. 3.
A vehicle parked at 214 Blake St. had its tires slashed overnight Nov. 1–2.
A vehicle parked in the Chestnut Street Garage at 29 Chestnut St. had a window broken prior to 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 3.
One of the gates at the Centreville Parking Garage at 52 Canal St. was broken off prior to 4 p.m. on Nov. 1.
The 12-hour Club at 120 Lisbon St. was tagged with blue spray paint graffiti prior to 2 p.m. Nov. 1.
All of the gates at the Chestnut Street Parking Garage were broken off overnight Oct. 31–Nov. 1.
Theft
Some jewelry was taken from a residence at 15 Riverside Place during the afternoon on Nov. 4. There were no signs of forced entry; the items were taken from a jewelry box.
A Black 2004 Interstate enclosed trailer with barn doors and a double axle was stolen from 10 Mollison Way between 7 p.m. Oct. 28 and 2 p.m. Oct. 30.
A blue recycling bin was stolen from outside of 80 Pettingill St. overnight Oct. 31–Nov. 1.
A Bates student had his/her iPhone stolen from 245 College St. on Oct. 31.
A pink 2007 Hoffman Disrupter BMX bicycle was stolen from 221 Lincoln St. sometime during the evening on Nov. 2.
A purple spray-painted Razor Scooter was stolen from 103 Park St. at 3 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Motor vehicle burglary
A vehicle parked at 2 Cedar St. was burglarized overnight Oct. 30–31. A stereo faceplate was taken from inside.
Burglary
An apartment at 40 Bartlett St. was burglarized prior to 3 p.m. Nov. 1. A checkbook was taken from inside, which was later used to fraudulently withdraw money.
Sex offender
Daniel Merklein, 54, was arrested on a warrant out of Wisconsin for failure to register or update information, fugitive from justice and probation violation at 7:48 p.m. on Oct. 30 after it was discovered that he was living in Lewiston and hadn’t changed his registered address. He will be extradited back to Wisconsin.
Operating under the influence
Richard Bedford, 19, was charged with operating under the influence at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 31 at 270 College St.
Christopher Bain, 33, was arrested for operating under the influence at 11:52 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Sabattus and Shawmut streets.
Operating after suspension
Benjamin Dunham, 31, was charged with operating after habitual offender revocation at 6:58 p.m. on Nov. 2 at 70 St. Croix St.
Curtis Lomax, 44, was charged with operating after suspension and carrying a concealed weapon at 12:55 a.m. on Nov. 4 at 345 Main St. Police said that upon search they recovered a loaded .25-caliber handgun in his waistband.
Erika Bean, 32, was charged with operating while license suspended at 12:23 a.m. on Nov. 6 at Lisbon and Maple streets.
Wanted
Normand Tessier, 48, is wanted on a warrant charging unpaid fines for operating after suspension.
Kenny Giles, 33, is wanted on a warrant charging sex offender failing to register.
Tessa Morin, 24,
is wanted on a warrant charging violating of bail conditions.
