Bruce Albert Makas

1943 – 2009

SUN LAKES, ARIZ. — Bruce Albert Makas of Sun Lakes, Ariz., died peacefully at home on Nov. 10 after a long illness.

He was born July 18, 1943, in Boston, Mass., to Albert and Doris (Bryant) Makas. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and served in the Army for two years before a lengthy management career with General Electric at numerous locations across the country. He capped this successful career as President of Saco Defense Company for 11 years before retiring to Sun Lakes in 2001.

For most of his life, he was an enthusiastic and dedicated Ham Radio operator. In addition to Rita, his loving wife of 42 years, he is survived by their son, Brian, of South River, N.J., his mother and his sister, Elaine, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by his father.
