Donald Ray Floyd

1938 – 2009

NORWAY — Donald Ray Floyd, 71, of Norway died unexpectantly and went to be with his lord on Nov. 9 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

He was born in Dixfield at home on April 10, 1938, the son of Arthur and Alice (Harlow) Floyd. He married Claudette Elaine Robichaud on Nov. 12, 1960, in Mexico and lived in Rumford until moving to Middletown, Conn., where they raised their two sons, Don (Chip) and Craig.

He joined the Army in 1961 and was stationed in Fort Dix, N.J., later serving in Germany. He worked at Pratt Whitney in Middletown, Conn., for 25 years, then moved to Norway in 1996 and worked for Oxford Homes until retiring. He and his wife were members of Grace Fellowship Church in Oxford. Don had an incredible sense of humor and love for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Claudette Floyd; two sons Craig Floyd and Don Floyd and his wife, Sharon; two grandchildren, Danielle and Alexandra; and his sister Gertrude Peabody.

He is predeceased by his father and mother, Arthur and Alice (Harlow) Floyd; his brothers, Arthur (Buddy) Floyd and Harlow (Joe) Floyd; and sisters Sheila McKay and Ruth Webster.

FLOYD — Donald Ray, 71, of Norway died Monday, Nov. 9, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his life at 2 p.m. at the Grace Fellowship Church in Oxford followed by a reception downstairs in the church. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Don’s memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
