Cheryl A. Strickland

1959 – 2009

LEWISTON — Cheryl A. Strickland, 50, a longtime resident of Ridge Road, Monmouth, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 1:40 a.m. at Central Maine Medical Center, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born April 9, 1959, in Lewiston, the daughter of Cecil M. and Edna E. McDonald Larrabee. Cheryl attended Monmouth schools and graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1978.

On April 25, 1997, in Winthrop, she married John Strickland of Winthrop. Cheryl worked as a CNA at Heritage Home in Winthrop for 12 years. She was employed at Downeast Pharmacy and Omni Care Pharmacy of Maine for several years. She then worked for Patient Referral Services in Manchester for 9 years.

Cheryl loved her home and the time she spent with her husband, John, son, Joshua Jones and her stepchildren, Ian and Kyle Strickland. She loved shopping and was always looking for a deal.

She is survived by her husband, John, of Monmouth; her son, Joshua Jones, U.S. Navy stationed in Groton, Conn.; her stepsons, Ian Strickland, of Colorado Springs, Col., and Kyle Strickland, of Woolwich; a brother, Maynard L. Larrabee of Auburn; a sister, Nancy C. Larrabee Besson of Litchfield; several nieces, Catherine Ann Therrien, Tammy Lynn Therrien, Sharon Demascio and Debbie Larrabee; and several great-nieces, nephews and many cousins. She had several friends and enjoyed being a caretaker for her family and her friends when the time was needed.

She will be missed and cherished dearly and always in our memories.

STRICKLAND — Cheryl A., 50, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth. Visiting hours 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home.
