FARMINGTON — Registrations are being accepted for CPR and first aid classes taking place at the Ben Franklin Center at Franklin Memorial Hospital starting in November.

The first aid course will be offered at two times, with the first standard first aid class taking place from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19,  and the second class from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.

First aid is the immediate care given to someone with an illness or injury before trained help arrives. Topics will include first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies.

A Heartsaver CPR course will be offered from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1. The Heartsaver CPR course follows the standards and guidelines for CPR from the American Heart Association and is designed for the general public. It will include information on basic cardiac life support techniques for adults, children and infants, as well instruction on automated external defibrillators.

There is a $45 fee for each course, which includes the cost of the textbook, class and course completion card, or $60 to attend both classes. For more information or to register, contact Amanda Brown at 779-2381.
