Leonard E. White

1928 – 2009

FARMINGTON – Leonard E. White, 81, a native of Hightstown, N.J., died on Nov. 12 in Farmington.

Leonard was born on Feb. 26, 1928, in Hightstown, N.J., son of Leonard White Sr. and Bertha Baremore White Voelbel. He attended school in Hightstown, and later proudly served in the U.S. Army.

On Nov. 24, 1951, he married Ann Marie McCloskey in Brooklyn, NY.

He was a police officer and worked fire and rescue in Hightstown from 1950 to 1959. He was a supervisor at McGraw Hill Book Co. for 19 years. In 1977, the family moved to Maine where he became a school bus driver, retiring in 1990. Leonard was a proud member of the local
Masonic Lodge and Kora Temple Shrine.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and traveling with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, of Livermore Falls; one son, Thomas J. White (Rose) of Lincoln; one daughter, Maureen Oswald (Gary) of Jay; five beloved grandchildren; and two sisters, Viola Rue of Imlaystown, N.J., and Marion Michelchuck of East Windsor, N.J.;.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his sisters, Frances Mohr and Evelyn White.
