LEWISTON — The Jesus Party urban youth outreach has announced the 14th annual Christmas Extravaganza. The ministry has lined up events for children throughout December.

This year’s theme will be “It doesn’t take a lot of money to build a lot of memories!” All gatherings and special holiday field trips will meet at the Jesus Party Headquarters, 291 Bates St. Departure times for field trips will vary but can be obtained by contacting the ministry at 786-5568.

The following activities have been planned:

Sunday, Dec. 6, a field trip to East Auburn Baptist Church for the 15th annual Christmas Spectacular with song, dance and drama.

Friday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m., children will watch a 42-minute animated film entitled, “The Legend of the Candy Cane,” a story of hope and the hidden meaning of the candy cane.

Saturday, Dec. 12, a field trip to the Pathway Vineyard Church to experience the 13th annual Living Nativity. Children will listen to Christmas caroling and there will be hot cocoa, holiday cookies and a hayride.

Sunday, Dec. 13, a field trip to the United Pentecostal Church for a Christmas concert.

Friday, Dec. 18, The Jesus Party will hold the 14th annual Christmas celebration in the inner city. Contemporary and traditional Christmas songs will be sung. There will be a holiday film, candy and a buffet of food.

Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 21 and 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Jesus Party staff will spend time with the children while driving through the Twin Cities viewing holiday light displays.

Thursday, Dec. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m., “Young People’s New Year’s Eve Festivities,” with noisemakers, party hats, leis, special music, games and food.
