DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for placing our information about wanting crafters for our show in your column. We received a number of calls. We are once again looking for your assistance.
We would like to let everyone know that our craft show will be Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1248 on Rumford Avenue in Rumford. Please tell your family, friends and neighbors so that everyone can come out and have a great day. We will be having a raffle, and there will be a food concession for your enjoyment. DEAR SUN SPOTS: Recently there was an article in the newspaper about two ladies feeding abandoned cats around two burned-out apartment buildings in Lewiston. I’ve lost the article, but I need to get in touch with one of the ladies involved, as my daughter would consider adopting one of the cats. Thank you very much for you help. — Barbara Harris, Minot
ANSWER: There were actually three good Samaritan cat ladies written about in the Oct. 31 story: Martha Truscott, Diane Jellison and Cynthia Parent. Sun Spots doesn’t have phone numbers for them, but perhaps they will see this and contact the column.
Some of the cats have been trapped and taken to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society for adoption. With the tough economy, Maine shelters are overwhelmed with cats and kittens who need good lifetime homes. If you can help, visit them at 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, 783-2311, [email protected]. They are open
Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: A few weeks ago, Sun Spots had a letter regarding a local cat rescue group looking for bakers for an upcoming bake sale at K-Mart. I forgot to save the phone number for the person to contact.
A couple of friends and I would be interested helping out. They have had firsthand experience with this amazing and dedicated animal rescue group. Could you please reprint the information? I believe the name of the group is “Tommy’s.” It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all that you do. — Celia Morin, No Town
ANSWER: Sun Spots can indeed help you with that information, as she will be participating in the bake sale as well. Watch out for her Texas sheet cake (chocolaty goodness with a whole pound of butter and a cup of sour cream) and frosted nutmeg cookies. To volunteer to help out with Tommy’s Feral Felines, call Norm at 650-8374.
