I congratulate Auburn’s new Mayor-elect, Dick Gleason, for his stance for a neater dress code for city councilors.
City leaders should be the ones to set an above-average example. They ran for a seat on the council and now that they have it, have a little pride to go with it. They should try their best to look the part.
If we had more people in this world setting good examples, the sights we see around our towns would be a lot different. Shape up and dress up — play the part you asked for. Don’t be petty now and try to ruin another person’s 15 minutes of glory.
I was a selectman in Lisbon for 11 1/2 years and proud of it. Oh, and by the way, I believe I set a good and fair example while I was in office.
