RUMFORD – Mountain Valley youth wrestling is now taking signups for the 2009-10 wrestling season.

The program is for any child pre-K thru sixth grade. MVMS wrestlers may also work out with the team.

There will be an informational meeting Friday, Dec. 4 in the wrestling room at Greater Rumford Community Center for new children and parents. First practice will be Monday, Dec. 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Auburn Rec Women’s hoop registrations ongoing

AUBURN – Auburn Recreation is now taking team registrations for the 2010 women’s basketball league. Total team fees, based on anticipated league expenses, remain the same as last year at $780.

Registrations will be taken through Wednesday, Dec. 30. Rosters must carry 8 to 12 player. There is no residency requirement, but every team is strongly encouraged to list as many Auburn residents as possible. To register, teams should submit roster and full payment by the deadline. Games are expected to begin the week after New Year’s.

CMCC sportsman show this weekend

AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will host its first winter sportsman show this Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6. Admission is $5, or free for ages 12 and under. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

Show hours are 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.  

There will be a free kids’ archery rea and fishing pond and free Lang’s tackle appraisals. More than 40 vendors will be in attendance. Numerous seminars and shows are scheduled throughout the event.
