Board: Sabattus Selectmen
Met: Tuesday night

Welcome aboard
Issue: Selectmen appointed David Gilbert to the Budget Committee; that board is expected to have the last of its eight positions filled later this month.
Issue: They also appointed Roger Perron to the Planning Board, filling out that board.

Upcoming
Issue: A special meeting has been called for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Town Office when the new selectmen will be seated and a chair and vice chair elected. Immediately after that, they’ll go into a workshop on employee policies and health insurance.
Issue: Incoming Selectman Ronda Fournier is encouraging turnout at the Regional School Unit Board’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Oak Hill High School to discuss the future configuration of local schools.
The scoop: On the table is a proposal that would have Sabattus kids in pre-K to grade 2 going to Sabattus Primary, Litchfield kids in pre-K to grade 2 going to Libby Tozier and Wales kids that age split between the two schools; grades 3 to 5 kids from all three towns would go to Carrie Ricker Middle School; and grades 6 to 8 to the Sabattus Central School. Those and other changes could save up to $800,000 a year.

Holiday hours
Issue: Christmas and New Year’s both fall on Fridays, a day Town Office staff typically leaves at 1 p.m.
Up next: A compromise: The office is going to be closed those days and on Christmas Eve, and close at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
