FARMINGTON — The 2009-10 Mt. Blue Voices a cappella ensemble from Mt. Blue High School will present a holiday concert Wednesday, Dec.16.
The 16 members of The Voices, under the direction of Dennis Hayes, have been busy this fall with performances at The Chocolate Church Performing Arts Center in Bath and in the Maine Music Society’s Battle of the Blends concert.
Recently, the singers opened the Maine Principal Association’s annual conference in Portland. In early October, the group released its new CD, “Can You Hear The Voices?”
The Voices will return to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., next April to participate in Disney’s Magic Music Day — for the sixth time in The Voices’ history.
Featured at the concert will be a number of songs from The Voices’ new CD, plus some new arrangements composed by Hayes. Some favorites back from last year will include “Green Tambourine,” “Hush” and John Lennon’s classic “Imagine.”
New for the upcoming season are “I Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “White Rabbit,” “Love Gets Me Everytime” and a medley of songs from the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “Jersey Boys.”
Admission to the 7 p.m. concert in The Brass Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital is free. Donations will be accepted and CDs will be on sale, with all profits going toward the ensemble’s Florida trip.
Seniors in the 2009-10 Mt. Blue Voices are Erik Mason, Tim Reid and Kelton Cullenberg; juniors: Eliza Richard, Matt West and Ellie Buckland; sophomores: Jennifer Hinds, Ellie Sloane-Barton, Kerri Cooper, Marina West, Emily Ramsey, Louisa Stancioff, Andreas Wyder and Alex Chandler; and freshmen: Maryam Norton and Ragnar Clarke.
The Mt. Blue Voices are accepting performance dates for this school year. Interested organizations should contact Hayes at 778-2352.
