AUBURN — Nason Mechanical Systems, a full service mechanical contractor specializing in design, construction and service of mechanical heating, cooling, piping and plumbing systems, has been awarded a 2009 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence. The recognition is granted annually to Maine companies that demonstrate service and/or manufacturing excellence, defined as high levels of customer satisfaction, efficiency and technical excellence, as well as a caring commitment to employees and community.
Gov. John Baldacci presented the award at a ceremony at Colby College in Waterville to Peter Traill, CEO of Nason. In granting the award, Baldacci noted the extensive array of employee benefits provided by the company, including a substantial profit sharing program.
Recognition was also made of the company’s commitment to training and developing the skills of its personnel by offering a variety of training programs in its own training facility and also sending employees to offsite programs for specialized training. In addition to paying for training, the company also pays for all professional licenses and license renewals. Employees collectively hold nearly 100 professional licenses and certifications, providing an exceptionally skilled and highly flexible workforce.
Also recognized was Nason’s active commitment to the Lewiston-Auburn community, which is evidenced by the company’s generous financial contributions to charitable civic and cultural organizations and the involvement of its employees in those activities.
Located in Auburn since 1933, Nason is a 35-employee firm providing mechanical design, construction, service and maintenance of HVAC, heating, plumbing and piping systems to commercial and industrial clients in Southern Maine. Twenty-seven field technicians are supported by a 3-person engineering group. The engineers provide technical support to the company’s field technicians and also design and supervise installation of mechanical systems for the company’s clients.
The company serves a wide range of industrial and commercial clients and is particularly active in the medical sector, including Lewiston’s two hospitals. A large portion of the company’s construction activities is performed as a Design/Build contractor where Nason, working for either the owner or a general contractor, designs and then installs mechanical systems or industrial piping.
The company, led by its engineering group, has long been active in promoting and supporting energy efficiency in the mechanical systems of its clients. The engineers work closely with clients to identify and prioritize opportunities to reduce all energy consumption.
