Army Private Darick Barker has graduated Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky. During his nine weeks of training, Barker studied the Army mission and was given instruction in training and drill exercises and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat and field maneuvers and tactics.

Barker then went on to attend AIT training and classes at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Barker’s wife, Ginne, and their two children, Tyson and Tatum, currently reside in Boothbay Harbor. His daughter, Valerie, lives in Wilton. He is the son of Stephen and Ida Barker of Jay.

Barker is a 2003 graduate of Jay High School.
