FARMINGTON — Toys for Matteo has just received and donated toys for the first annual toy drive in memory of Matteo Hanson. Hanson was 17 months old when he was killed last year in an act of domestic violence.

The toy drive, organized by Hanson’s mother, Brandy Swett, collaborated with Mt. Blue High School and and Foster Technology Center students to collect toys which were delivered to the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project on Nov. 29, the one-year anniversary of Hanson’s death. The toys were donated by students, staff and friends and family members of Swett.

Jessica Dorr, community educator, and Rebecca LaRovera, outreach advocate from the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project, received donations from Toys for Matteo to give to children who have been victims of domestic violence and are temporarily placed in shelter.

AWAP is the domestic violence project that covers Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin Counties. Their 24-hour help line number is 1-800-559-2927. The Franklin County outreach office number is 778-6107.
