DEAR SUN SPOTS: Once again I need your help, and thank you again for your great column. I found a recipe for a lemon-dill snack mix in an older “The Spirits of Christmas” cookbook (a Leisure Arts Publication — no telephone number available) that calls for an envelope (1.8 ounces) of lemon-dill sauce mix that I am unable to find anywhere. Could you please tell me if this is still available, and if not, what ingredients would be used to make this mix? Many thanks. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots didn’t find lemon-dill either, and she suspects that it would be difficult to accurately recreate the ingredients of one of those dehydrated packets without a full laboratory-style kitchen. There are, however, many recipes for lemon-dill sauce online. Perhaps you could use one (example below from www.foodnetwork.com) and then reduce the other liquid ingredients in the recipe? Or maybe another reader who is a more experienced cook than Sun Spots will have a better idea.

Ingredients

½ cup minced shallots

1 teaspoon minced garlic

½ cup dry white wine

Juice of one lemon

¼ cup chopped fresh dill

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

½ cup heavy cream

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed

Salt and pepper

Directions

In a saucepan, combine the shallots, garlic, wine and lemon. Bring the liquid up to a boil. Stir in the dill and cook for 3 minutes. Whisk in the mustard and cream, continue to cook for 2 minutes. Whisk in the butter a cube at a time, until all the butter is incorporated. Season with salt and pepper.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here I am again to ask for your knowledge. There used to be a show on TV. It was with Amy Sinclair traveling in a camper all over the state of Maine, titled:”Where’s Amy?” Is she related to the Sinclairs that own the TV stations? We really liked her travels. Where is she now? I don’t know what we would do without you. Thank you so much. — Lucy Cyr, McFalls

ANSWER: According to a posting on MaineToday.com in 2007, Amy Sinclair left her reporting job of 13 years at WGME Channel 13 and the “Where’s Amy?” segments for the New England Cable Network (Channel 34 in Lewiston). One of her projects there is a gardening program. Sun Spots does not know if she is related to the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns WGME Channel 13. If you want to write to Amy, try doing so care of New England Cable News, 60 Wells Ave., Newton, MA 02459.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I love your column. My son, Rod Eliason, went to kindergarten in Manchester, Conn. He is now 62. He went to Lincoln School. He graduated with the same class in high school, then onto University of Connecticut for college. I would love to have his high school graduation photo and class photo. Would also like a copy of the original “Peter and the Wolf.” Hope to get help. I am 98 years. Thank you. —  Jean Eliason, Lewiston

ANSWER: I doubt if Sun Spots’ readers will be of much help with your son’s school photos from Connecticut, but perhaps someone will have a copy of “Peter and the Wolf” they no longer want. If you want to purchase it, there are several versions available at Bull Moose Music.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to know if anyone bought a natural granite vanity top with basin and backsplash at Mardens (color is vibrant rose; size 31 by 19) and will not be installing it. I would greatly appreciate buying it from you as the one that I got was the smaller one and really need the larger one. I can be reached at 784-2240. Thank you. — No Name, No Town
