Yolande V. Deschenes
1923 – 2009
LEWISTON – Yolande V. Deschenes, 86, formerly of 263 Russell St., Lewiston, and recently a resident of Schooner Estates in Auburn, died at the Montello Manor in Lewiston, where she had lived for the past two years.
Born in Lewiston on July 6, 1923, she was the daughter of Arthur and Henrietta Forgues Labonte. Educated locally, she married Bertrand M. Deschenes on June 25, 1949. Mr. Deschenes passed away on Feb. 14, 1978.
She prided herself on being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, and she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She expressed her love by spending the entire year knitting sweaters, scarves and mittens to give them as Christmas gifts. She also loved traveling to Hawaii, Myrtle Beach and Arizona, and she enjoyed the opera, theater and musicals.
A member of St. Louis Church and Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by a son, Raymond and wife, Mary, of Lewiston; a daughter, Linda and husband, William, of Lewiston; three brothers, Francois Labonte of Lewiston, the Rev. Youville Labonte of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Richard Labonte of Auburn; and two grandchildren, Kelly Deschenes Grover and husband, Chris, and Thomas Deschenes.
Besides her parents and husband; she was predeceased by a brother, Wilfred Labonte.
Yolande and her family were grateful for the wonderful care she received from the loving staffs of Montello Manor and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
