RUMFORD — A public hearing scheduled for Tuesday regarding Central Maine Power Co.’s proposal to build a transmission line from a scheduled wind turbine project in Roxbury to the grid has been canceled.

According to a news release by the Maine Public Utilities Commission on Monday, Rumford interveners requested the cancellation and rescheduling because of the number of community and school events taking place during December. Evelyn deFrees, spokeswoman for the commission, said in the release that the hearing will likely be rescheduled early in the new year at the Rumford Municipal Building.

The new transmission line would go through Rumford, Roxbury and Mexico. The owners of the wind farm, Record Hill, must reimburse Central Maine Power for all costs associated with the construction of the line.
