WATERVILLE — The Brain Injury Association of Maine is looking for volunteers to help plan a variety of events for 2010; Walk for Thought, Bid for BIA Auction and the Head for the Challenge 23K Walk.
The Walk for Thought will take place in Greater Portland, Kennebunkport, Lewiston, Winslow and Brewer. More than 1,000 walkers are expected to participate statewide on March 27 and April 10.
The Bid for BIA Auction is held under the covered marketplace at O’Donal’s Nursery in Gorham. There will be a variety of items in the live auction and more than 100 pieces for the silent auction. Music, food and beverages will complete the festivities. The auction is scheduled for August of 2010.
The BIA has added a new event for 2010; the Head for the Challenge 23K walk on Sept. 26, to be held on the UNE Biddeford campus. The walk route will take participants along the ocean past former President Bush’s summer residence to Kennebunkport. Participants will be treated to a celebration at the finish line which will feature barbecue and lobster. There will also be a Brain Health Fair with vendors and demonstrations taking place throughout the day.
Volunteers are needed to plan various activities for the events with the goal of creating a fun, festive atmosphere for the participants as well as raising funds for the organization’s programs.
